Job Title: Bookings & Marketing Assistant
Location: Manchester (9 months, September 2017 to May 2018) followed by an optional 3 months (June to August 2018) in one of our China offices.

Job Description:

Bookings Management

The core of this role is handling applications for InternChina programmes. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Responding to initial applications by email and on the phone
  • Following up with ongoing applications
  • Liaising with our China-based teams to ensure speedy placement of participants with internship host companies.
  • Conducting phone interviews with candidates for our various funded programmes
  • Answering pre-departure questions from booked participants
  • Working with our bookings manager to ensure targets are met
  • Participant data management and general administration tasks

Marketing & Partnership Development

  • Attend student-facing marketing events across the UK, such as careers fairs, presentations and panel discussions
  • Communicate with our UK university partners to arrange suitable promotional activities
  • Administrate the booking of careers and placement fairs and other UK marketing activities
  • Attend networking events and conferences, building InternChina’s network of university, government and NGO partnerships
  • Create occasional press releases and blog posts
  • Assist in managing our UK alumni network, gather feedback and create relevant statistics for marketing purposes
  • Assist our marketing manager with social media and other digital marketing activities in the UK

Person Specification:

  • Students on business related degree programs are preferred, but applicants with any degree program will be considered.
  • Knowledge of another European language would be a plus but not a must.
  • Any previous visit to China would be advantageous, but is not a must.
  • IT savvy. Able to use office software effectively.
  • No knowledge of Chinese language necessary, but motivation to learn the basics is a must!
  • Regular social media user, in particular Instagram, facebook and twitter.
  • Sociable and enthusiastic.
  • Eager to learn, travel and understand other cultures

Our Offer: Salary: £1,000 per Month
Holiday: 25 days paid holiday (for 12 month placement)

Internal Internship in one of our China branches - Qingdao, Zhuhai, Chengdu & Dalian

InternChina is a young and fast growing company. We are growing quickly, have 12 permanent staff, 4 offices in China and 1 office in the UK. General responsibilities and role assumptions:

The role of an intern in our China offices will give you a close insight into the day-to-day running of a business in China. We are a relatively small and family-run business, so you will be welcomed as part of the family and able to enjoy a friendly working atmosphere. As an intern with us it’s imperative that you demonstrate and encourage our core principles and desired culture. Our culture can be roughly defined by the following core principles:

Internship Description:

  • Handling of enquiries, customer data management, and general administration tasks.
  • If the intern has the interest: Video filming and editing, Photoshop design for a multitude of different purposes. In house training available.
  • Communicate with our university partners and establish new partnerships
  • Create press releases and China related articles, then aim to get them published for press exposure in your home country
  • Local marketing: occasional flyering and postering, visiting relevant events and networking.
  • Assisting our China-based online marketing team by posting positions on relevant job boards and university careers pages.
  • Blog writing, posting on social networks and contributing to relevant online forums.
  • Email newsletter creation using Mailchimp and photoshop
  • Assist with the coordination of our alumni network, gather feedback and create relevant statistics for marketing purposes.
  • Assisting your office manager with administration, answering client questions and working on on-going group projects and scholarship schemes which InternChina is currently working on
  • Arranging regular events, activities and trips for groups of interns.

Requirements:

  • Student or recent graduate
  • Fluent in English. Another European language would be a plus but not a must.
  • Students on business, language or Chinese Studies related degree programs are preferred, but applicants with any degree program will be considered.
  • IT savvy. Able to use office software effectively.
  • Familiar with all main social networking sites.

InternChina is growing quickly and doing so in an unpredictable country where things may change unexpectedly, so our team needs to be flexible and able to react quickly to changes or unexpected situations. This means that although we can set out a general set of key responsibilities for each branch manager, they are expected to go beyond their job description where necessary. It’s imperative that the branch manager demonstrates and encourages our core principles and desired organisational culture during a vital growth period for the company. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Programme development; Identifying new internship opportunities, visiting prospective partner companies and networking in order to develop exciting new internship opportunities
  • Office management; ensuring smooth day-to-day operations in your city and motivating the team
  • Group programme planning, oversight and follow-up
  • Recruiting and supporting local staff to provide quality accommodation for participants
  • Managing IC office interns
  • Delivering training to interns and permanent staff in your branch
  • Manage office finances; handle cash, payments and accounting
  • Application and booking administration, managing the participant placement process
  • Create occasional blog posts and web content
  • Assist the team in producing social media content

There are times when you will be in sole charge of the InternChina branch you are responsible for. InternChina’s management team will support you every step of the way and trust you to run the branch in the way you best see fit.

Person Specification:

  • Qualified to degree level
  • Any degree subject considered
  • Experience of living in China, even for a short period
  • You do not need to speak fluent Chinese, but a basic conversational level is required

Our Offer:
Salary: 10,000 RMB net per Month
Bonus: Fixed annual bonus
