Qingdao Trips

These are the main, overnight weekend trips we will be running from Qingdao in 2019.

Check the itinerary, dates of each trip and click one of the buttons to add a trip to your programme.

Each trip has limited number of places, so sign up asap to not miss out!

Payment for the trips will be required at least 30 days prior to your arrival date in China (not 30 days before the trip date) and you will be issued with an invoice when you book the trips.

BEIJING - 17th -19th May 2019 <-- Click to Expand

Friday 17th May – Take the high speed rail train from Qingdao to Beijing. Check into our regular hostel upon arrival. Visit to the Wangfujing food market – over 2000 square metres in size, with over 500 choices! 

Saturday 18th May – Set off early to go to arguably the best part of the Great Wall of China – Mutianyu. This part of the wall is further out of the city meaning less crowds and more mountainous scenery. Spend the afternoon walking along the wall and having lunch at its base. Your Great Wall entrance ticket includes a cable car ride up to the top of the wall, and (more excitingly) a toboggan ride down off the wall! In the evening we will all go to one of the best Peking Duck restaurants in the city for a taste of one of China’s most famous dishes. Afterwards the group can visit some bars and clubs to party if they like!

Sunday 19th May  – The group will visit the world famous Tian’anmen Square (the world’s largest public square) and also the Forbidden City (where the Emperor of China used to live – where it was once rumored to contain 9,999 rooms). After this, we will return to the train station, where we will take the train back to Qingdao.

Cost of trip – 1650 RMB, this includes your return high speed train ticket to Beijing, transportation to and from all attractions, Saturday night dinner, 2 nights in the hostel, entrance ticket to all attractions.

BEIJING - 5th - 7th July 2019 <-- Click to Expand

Friday 5th July – Train journey to Beijing. Check into our regular hostel upon arrival. Visit to the Wangfujing food market – over 2000 square metres in size, with over 500 choices!

Arrival and Departure in Beijing:

We recommend that you take the fast train (4-5 hours, 314rmb single ticket) between Qingdao and Beijing South railway station. From here, our friendly InternChina staff will take you to the accommodation. These tickets can be booked online a maximum of four weeks in advance – Qingdao participants will be contacted closer to the trip arrival date by email for more information about trains to arrive and depart Beijing. Note: train transfer is only available for Qingdao programme participants.

HANGZHOU - 19th – 21st June 2019 <-- Click to Expand

Friday 19th June – Take the high-speed rail from Qingdao to Hangzhou and settle into the hostel upon arrival.

Saturday 20th June –

  • Start the day at Fei Lai Feng, a jaw dropping sight where 330 Buddhas are carved into the stone walls, some dating back from the 10th century. Then we will go to the Lingyin Temple, a large active Buddhist temple surrounded by forested hills.
  • We will take lunch in the temple, then take the bus down to the UNESCO World Heritage sight of the West Lake. We’ll take a boat tour across the lake and explore the islands in the middle of the lake.
  • After this, we’ll take dinner at a Hangzhou style restaurant and then see the Sunset Fountain Show at West Lake, directed by the famous Chinese filmmaker Zhang Yimou (House of Flying Daggers)

Saturday 21st June –

  • Test out your bargaining skills and get your souvenirs for your friends and family back home at Qinghefang Antiques and Shopping Street. This street has been home to shops and market stalls since the 12th Century and is home to some nationally famous Chinese medicine shops.
  • Relax on the high-speed rail train back to Qingdao.

Cost of trip – 1695 RMB, this includes the return train ticket to Hangzhou from Qingdao, Saturday dinner, transportation to and from all attractions, 2 nights in the hostel, entrance tickets to all attractions.
Friday dinner/lunches are not included.

HANGZHOU - 6th – 8th September 2019 <-- Click to Expand

Friday 6th September – Take the high-speed rail from Qingdao to Hangzhou and settle into the hostel upon arrival.

Saturday 7th September –

QUFU & MOUNT TAI - 14th - 16th June 2019 <-- Click to Expand

Friday 14th June – Take the train from Qingdao to Tai’an, and then a bus for one hour to stay in a hostel at the foot of Taishan – the most sacred of Chinese mountains, and rest up for the hike tomorrow!

Saturday 15th June – Get your trainers on for a challenging walk up the UNESCO World Heritage site of Mount Tai. You will make your way up 6,660 steps, winding past eleven gates, fourteen archways and four pavilions, on the way to a peak of 1545m. Mount Tai is home to the Temple of the God of Taishan, one of China’s oldest palaces, dating in some parts back to 1008 AD. Mount Tai is one of the principal places of worship of the Emperor of China to the Heaven and Earth, and the most sacred of China’s five sacred mountains.
Following the hike, we will grab a well-earned Saturday dinner together (included in the trip cost) and then move on to the city of Qufu.

Sunday 16th June – Qufu is home to China’s most famous philosopher Confucius. Confucius’ ideas permeate through Chinese culture even to this day. With the help of our English speaking tour guide, we will explore Confucius’ home town – taking in sights like Confucius’ birth place and his final resting place. Here you will get your fill of traditional Chinese culture and philosophy!

Cost of trip – 1250 RMB, this includes the transport to all the locations, entrance to all the attractions and your hostel accommodation.

Breakfasts/lunches/dinners (apart from Saturday dinner) not included.

QUFU & MOUNT TAI- 16th - 18th August 2019 <-- Click to Expand

Friday 16th August – Take the train from Qingdao to Tai’an, and then a bus for one hour to stay in a hostel at the foot of Taishan – the most sacred of Chinese mountains, and rest up for the hike tomorrow!

Mint Club in the Evening (for those who would like to attend) – This amazing club is home to a giant shark tank. Its one of the longest standing clubs in Shanghai and a great place to celebrate our arrival.

Saturday 22nd June
Exploring Tianzifang – A great place to experience the up and coming arts scene and vibrancy of this quaint district of the city.
Jing’an Temple – A chance to witness the contrast between the old and the new in this stunning city center temple.
PuDong (浦东) and the Bund – You’ve all seen the photos of people with the sprawling skyline behind them well now is your chance to grab that fantastic picture for yourself!
Dinner at Shanghai Laolao
Captain’s Bar and the Bund at night – a great chance to see the amazing city skyline.

Sunday 23rd June
IFC Tower – A chance to take in the views from the top of one of Asia’s tallest buildings.
Yuyuan Gardens – Opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle taking in the natural beauty of this park situated in the heart of the city! In addition, visit the market area and surrounding the gardens and practice your bartering!
Return to Shanghai airport.

Cost of trip – 995 RMB, this includes transportation to and from all attractions via metro, 2 nights in the hostel, Saturday night group dinner, entrance ticket to all attractions.

Return Flight to Shanghai from Qingdao, breakfast/lunch/dinner (apart from Saturday dinner) are not included in the trip price.

Airport Information for all participants:
Please book your flights to arrive on Friday 21st June before 14:00 to PVG – Shanghai Pudong Airport. Please book your flights to leave Shanghai Pudong Airport after 17:00 on Sunday 23rd June.

This is due to local visa regulations – Hong Kong is considered outside of mainland China for visa purposes, and participants on single entry visas will not be allowed back into mainland China to continue your trip and programme.

Join the 4 day trip to Lhasa, Tibet!

Lhasa is the capital of Tibet, focal point of Tibetan Buddhism for over a millennium and, a city of incredible beauty and intrigue. One of the highest cities in the world at an altitude of 11,450 ft and home to significant Tibetan Buddhist sites this is an incredible opportunity to travel this distant land.

The Potala Palace – an iconic site (Google it!) -will leave you with goosebumps after the first site of the incredible soaring structure – it is a must see when visiting Tibet and is part of this 4 day trip, other must see sites included on the trip are the Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Street, Drepung Monastery and the Sera Monastery.

Saturday 14th July 2019 – Today will be your first full chance to be a tourist in Tibet; you will take in the views from the Potala Palace, visit one of Tibets most sacred sites Jokhang Temple and take in the atmosphere of Barkhor Street with its unique local food and costumes.

Sunday 15th July 2019 – Following on from your first full day in Lhasa, today you will visit the Drepung Monastery as well as the Sera Monastery. These are more incredible sights and offer the chance to experience a unique debate from the local monks.

Monday 16th July 2019 – Today your journey in Tibet will finish! You will be transferred to the airport for your return flight to Chengdu.
